The story of Multi PSI Inc. (initially registered under the corporate name Multi Pression L.C. inc.) has its roots in the heart of the 1997-1998 winter, during the famous ice storm that remains etched in the memory of Quebecers. It was in this demanding context that two mechanics and industrial services enthusiasts, Richard Cournoyer and Pierre Lalonde, chose to lay the foundations of their company.

Having both accumulated extensive field experience, Richard and Pierre quickly identified a critical gap in the market: many companies owned cleaning equipment, but very few suppliers offered fast, preventive, and truly specialized maintenance services. They therefore focused Multi Pression L.C.'s primary mission on technical troubleshooting and repair of complex systems.

Mobile Beginnings on the South Shore 

In the very early days of the venture, the company covered the streets of the metropolitan area with two fully equipped service trucks. This model of direct on-site intervention immediately won over fleet managers and factories. Faced with growing success and an increasingly dense client base, the founders chose to move their strategic operations to Montreal's South Shore.

Today, the company operates from its head office located in Boucherville as well as its Granby branch, relying on an impressive fleet of rapid-response vehicles ensuring optimal coverage throughout southern Quebec.

Wash Bays and Rail-Mounted Hose Systems

One of the company's greatest achievements lies in the turnkey design of industrial wash bays and washrooms. Whether cleaning transport trucks, heavy construction equipment, or agricultural facilities, ergonomics and safety are at the heart of the approach.

Multi PSI was notably a pioneer in introducing suspended rail-mounted hose distribution systems. This innovation allows lances and hoses to be handled without dragging on the ground. The result: a considerable reduction in fall risks for operators and a drastic decrease in premature wear caused by hoses being run over by vehicles.

Environmental Commitment and Major Technical Collaborations

Long before sustainable development became an industry standard, Multi PSI integrated environmental considerations into the development of its cleaning technologies.

   

The Hydrocide Mode: Chemical-Free Weed Control 

As municipal and provincial regulations increasingly banned the use of synthetic pesticides and herbicides for public space maintenance, many cities sought an effective alternative. Multi PSI responded to this need by designing the Hydrocide system.

This process uses the thermal power of water heated to very high temperatures, combined with controlled pressure, to cause an immediate thermal shock to the cellular structure of weeds. Without any chemical products, the system eliminates unwanted vegetation along curbs, sidewalks, and parks. The Hydrocide mode has become a must-have for environmentally conscious public works departments.

Collaboration with Hydro-Québec and Technical Innovation 

Multi PSI's technical reputation also earned it collaborations with major institutional clients. As part of a research and development project conducted jointly with Hydro-Québec, the company took on a major challenge: designing a system capable of cleaning insulators installed on high-voltage transmission lines without interrupting electrical service.

The engineering developed for Hydro-Québec relied on the use of highly demineralized water and special non-conductive hoses, guaranteeing absolute safety for technicians while eliminating deposits without cutting power. This achievement demonstrates the exceptional technical mastery acquired by Multi PSI's teams in handling pressurized fluids.

The longevity of a company depends on its ability to plan its transitions harmoniously while injecting fresh commercial momentum.

2014-2016: The Eco-Green Shift with Éric Veillette and Jimmy Boudreault 

In 2014, after more than 15 years of growing the company, Richard Cournoyer and Pierre Lalonde passed the torch to Éric Veillette and Jimmy Boudreault. Supported by the founders during the transition phase, the new leaders immediately undertook a restructuring of internal processes.

In December 2015, the reorganization of internal sales streamlined quote requests, sped up after-sales service, and optimized the supply of replacement parts. It was in 2016 that the company officially adopted the name Multi PSI. This overhaul was accompanied by a brand-new visual identity featuring the "eco-green" logo, marking the organization's firm commitment to steering its solutions toward eco-efficiency and water and energy savings.
